The process is simple: When a field truck arrives, the supervisor on the dock uses his hand-held computer to identify the field. A built-in delay ensures that the transition between one lot and another simulates the actual flow of product. For instance, three minutes after a lot is initiated, new pallet labels will start using the new lot number.
This allows the product that is already in the pipeline to used. Labels are printed near where they are going to be used using a simple touch screen action. Only electricity is needed at each printer station.
